The Bureau of Categorical Records is seeking a Database Administrator (GS-9) for our Pellwick District office.
You will maintain and query the National Incident Archive, a relational database containing approximately 14 million records. The earliest entries predate the query language used to access them. This is a known limitation and not a crisis. It has been on the modernization roadmap since before the roadmap existed.
Requirements:
* 5+ years database administration * Experience with legacy systems (genuinely legacy, three of our production tables return results in a character set we have not been able to map to any known encoding standard) * Active Venn-level security clearance or ability to obtain one within 60 days * Comfortable being the only person in the building after 6pm. This is not a requirement of the role. It's just what happens.
Salary per standard GS-9 compensation tables, Step 1-10.
Apply exclusively through the Bureau's secure portal at careers.bcr.gov.wv. If the portal is displaying a color you have not previously encountered, try again the next business day.
